Terms of Use

Last updated: August 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of The Art of Pausing mobile app (the "App" or "Service"), provided by Power in the Pause Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, trading as The Art of Pausing ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

These Terms cover your use of the Service (your account, subscription, and any content you share). They are separate from, and don’t replace, the standard license terms that apply to any App Store app under Apple’s End User License Agreement, which govern the software license itself.

Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.

Who can use the App

The App is intended for users aged 13 and over. By using the App, you confirm that you meet this requirement. If you are using the App on behalf of someone under 13, you should not do so.

Your account

You need an account to use the App, created via a one-time email link, or by signing in with your Apple or Google account. You’re responsible for keeping your account secure and for anything that happens under it. Let us know straight away if you think someone else has access to your account.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings within the App. This permanently removes your personal data and check-in history, as described in our Privacy Policy.

The Art of Pausing® practices

The App offers guided creative practices, drawing, audio and card-based exercises, designed to support reflection and wellbeing. These are provided as a creative and reflective tool, and are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological or therapeutic advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services in your area.

We don’t guarantee any particular outcome from using the App, and your experience of the practices is personal to you.

Subscriptions and payment

Some features of the App require a paid subscription (Membership). Current plans and pricing are shown in the App before you subscribe, for example:

  • Annual — £72/year, with a 7-day free trial
  • Monthly — £9.99/month, with a 7-day free trial

By starting a free trial or subscribing, you agree to the following:

  • Payment is processed by Apple’s App Store (or Google Play, on Android), not by us directly, using the payment method linked to your Apple ID or Google account.
  • Subscriptions automatically renew for the same length and price shown at the time you subscribed, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your payment method will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price shown for your plan.
  • If you subscribe during a free trial, any unused portion of the trial is forfeited once payment is taken.
  • You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID or Google account settings. We don’t have the ability to cancel it for you, or to issue refunds directly, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
  • Prices may change from time to time; we’ll give you reasonable notice before any change affecting your renewal.

Where we’ve enabled it, using the App and making a purchase means you consent to us sharing limited information about your use of that purchase with Apple, to help Apple resolve any refund request fairly, as described in our Privacy Policy.

The Field and content you share

The App lets you optionally share a drawing and/or short reflection to "The Field", a space visible to other users. Sharing is always your choice.

By sharing content to The Field, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display, store and moderate that content within the App, for as long as it remains shared. You remain the owner of anything you create and share.

We review shared content using automated moderation before it appears to others, and we may remove any content, at our discretion, that we reasonably believe is unlawful, harmful, or breaches these Terms. You can ask us to remove anything you’ve shared at any time by contacting us.

Please don’t share anything that:

  • isn’t yours to share, or infringes someone else’s rights;
  • is unlawful, abusive, hateful, or intended to harm others;
  • contains identifying information about yourself or anyone else that you wouldn’t want made public, since The Field is visible to other users.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the App for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could damage, disable or impair it;
  • attempt to access another user’s account or data;
  • reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from the App beyond your own account, except as permitted by law;
  • use automated means to access the App outside of your normal personal use.

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you’ve breached these Terms.

Intellectual property

"The Art of Pausing®" and "The Power in the Pause®" are trademarks of Power in the Pause Ltd. The App, its design, guided practices, audio, illustrations and other content (excluding content you create and share) are owned by us or our licensors, and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may use the App for your own personal, non-commercial use only.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The App is provided "as is". While we take care to keep it reliable, we don’t guarantee it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded, and our liability to you for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you’ve paid us for your subscription in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.

Changes to the App or these Terms

We may update the App, and these Terms, from time to time, for example as the App develops or the law changes. Where changes are significant, we’ll let you know in the App or by email. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
